Mumbai, Oct 29 (NationPress) Music composer Shekhar Ravjiani candidly shared his battle with cataracts and how he confronted his fear of surgery. In a recent post on Instagram, he disclosed that he had previously undergone LASIK surgery to eliminate his need for glasses.
"Few are aware of this, aside from some childhood friends. During my youth, I had to wear extremely high-powered glasses. They were so strong that when I removed them, everything around me was merely a blur. Then LASIK became available in India, and I underwent the procedure – allowing me to finally perceive the world in vivid clarity! I often found myself adjusting imaginary glasses on my nose out of pure habit! I'm sure many of you can relate to this! (smiling face)," Shekhar wrote on IG.
He went on to explain that about four years ago, he started experiencing vision problems again and was diagnosed with cataracts.
According to Shekhar, "However, around four years ago, my vision began to deteriorate unexpectedly – quickly transitioning from mild to severe. It was a plot twist I certainly didn't anticipate, and the past four years have been quite tough. Lenses were uncomfortable and glasses felt overwhelming, leaving my vision constantly unclear. Whether performing on stage or recording in the studio, I was battling through it all. Sometimes, I would greet someone excitedly without knowing who they were! At other times, I would unintentionally give a cold 'Hi' to someone I knew very well. (Apologies to all of them) (smiling face). After consulting various doctors, I learned I had developed cataracts."
Initially reluctant to undergo surgery, he ultimately decided to proceed with the treatment and is now in recovery.
"Cheers to embarking on my new journey for the next 25 years filled with fresh dreams, new beginnings, and even more music than before! Jai Hanuman (folded hands and red heart emoji)," concluded his post.
In sharing his motivating journey, Shekhar wrote, "Life doesn't always unfold as planned – it throws unexpected challenges... and that's when your faith must surpass your fear. Jai Hanuman (folded hands emoji)."
