Shreya Ghoshal sings Javed Akhtar track for Vikram Phadnis film starring Saiyami Kher
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Playback legend Shreya Ghoshal has recorded a special song for director Vikram Phadnis' upcoming untitled film, with lyrics penned by veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and music composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Lead actress Saiyami Kher, who was present at the recording session in Mumbai, called the experience deeply memorable and said every actor dreams of having a Shreya Ghoshal song in their filmography.
A Dream Collaboration in the Studio
Saiyami visited the recording studio as Shreya laid down the vocals for what is being described as a key track in the film. The actress, who shares a personal bond with the singer, spoke warmly about witnessing the moment firsthand.
'I have been a big fan of Shreya and also consider her a friend. I feel every actor wants a Shreya Ghoshal song in their filmography, and it felt so special to hear her create her magic. Watching her bring the song to life was truly a memorable experience,' Saiyami said.
Why the Team Chose Shreya
Director Vikram Phadnis revealed that Ghoshal's name came up unanimously the moment the creative team heard Javed Akhtar's lyrics and Himesh Reshammiya's tune. 'When Javed saab wrote the lyrics and Himesh gave the tune, Shreya's name came up unanimously. This song needed a soul — it had to reach people's hearts, and we did not want to settle for anyone other than Shreya,' he said.
Phadnis added: 'We are glad we waited, and the magic she has brought to the track is something everyone will resonate with.' The film's title and full storyline remain under wraps. Tahir Raj Bhasin co-stars alongside Saiyami in the project.
Saiyami Kher's Busy Slate
The actress recently wrapped shooting for Haiwaan, an action film starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, directed by Priyadarshan. The film also features Sharib Hashmi and was shot across Kochi, Ooty, and Mumbai. It went on floors in August and notably marks the reunion of Akshay and Saif after 18 years.
Saiyami was last seen in Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, alongside Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Ramya Krishnan, Jagapathi Babu, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, P. Ravi Shankar, and Babloo Prithiveeraj.
What to Watch
With the Vikram Phadnis film's title yet to be announced, the Shreya Ghoshal track is shaping up as one of its early talking points. Given the creative pedigree — Akhtar's pen, Reshammiya's composition, and Ghoshal's voice — the song is expected to generate considerable pre-release buzz once unveiled.
