Mumbai, Dec 1 (NationPress) The creators of the anticipated biopic titled “V. Shantaram” have presented the inaugural look of Bollywood star Siddhant Chaturvedi as the iconic Indian filmmaker.

Siddhant, in collaboration with Camera Take Films, took to Instagram to reveal his look. In the photograph, he is depicted in a striking historical appearance, adorned in traditional Indian garments and a Nehru cap, confidently positioned next to a classic film camera. The scene is accentuated by a magnificent eagle with spread wings against a dramatic sky, creating an impressive cinematic atmosphere.

The accompanying caption read: “The Rebel Who Redefined Indian Cinema Is Back Where He Belongs — On the Big Screen.”

This biopic highlights the vibrant life and cinematic brilliance of one of India’s most innovative storytellers. It chronicles his extraordinary journey from the silent film era to the emergence of sound and color, marking him as one of the most significant auteurs in Indian cinema.

“Playing the role of V. Shantaram-ji is among the greatest privileges of my life,” Siddhant expressed in a statement.

The actor shared that the more he delved into V. Shantaram’s life, the more humbled he became.

“He was not only a pioneer in Indian and global cinema, but also a visionary who relentlessly pursued his passion despite numerous challenges. Immersing myself in his world has been a transformative journey as an actor. His life story profoundly affected me and reinforced the importance of perseverance. It’s a lesson I intend to carry forward, both in my career and in every aspect of my life,” Siddhant added.

Director Abhijeet Shirish Despande remarked: “V. Shantaram has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me as a filmmaker. His bravery to innovate and his vision shaped much of the cinema we recognize today. It’s an honor to share his story, and I hope we do justice to the man behind the legend. This first poster offers a glimpse into that journey, with Siddhant Chaturvedi embodying a role we always envisioned him for.”

Born as Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre in 1901, V. Shantaram was a formidable force in Indian cinema, with a career spanning nearly seven decades.

He established two prominent film studios: Prabhat Film Company in 1929 and Rajkamal Kalamandir in 1942, and directed the first Marathi-language talkie, “Ayodhyecha Raja,” in 1932.

His notable works include “Duniya Na Mane” (1937), “Do Aankhen Barah Haath” (1957), “Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje” (1955), and “Navrang” (1959).

These films were acclaimed for their technical advancements and progressive social narratives addressing topics such as communal harmony, dowry issues, and prisoner rehabilitation. He was honored with India’s highest film accolade, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, in 1985.
