Actor Teja Sajja is set to make his debut as a reality show host with The Traitors Telugu, the Telugu-language adaptation of the internationally acclaimed reality franchise, premiering on Prime Video on 15 October 2025. The 10-episode series will bring together 20 personalities from diverse backgrounds in a high-stakes game built around trust, deception, and betrayal.

What the show is about

The format centres on psychological strategy — contestants must identify who among them is a 'Traitor' while 'Faithfuls' attempt to root them out. In a promotional video shared on Instagram, Teja Sajja set the tone: 'Everyone in the world is good till they get a chance to betray — for love, for power, for war, or for victory. Eras may change, reasons may differ, but betrayal never changes.' The makers captioned the reveal clip: 'Droham, Drama, Dhamaka. Meeru Ready ah?'

Why Prime Video is expanding the franchise into Telugu

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, described the show as 'a truly exciting and disruptive entry in the unscripted space, with its focus on mind games and strategy that creates deep engagement.' He noted that following two highly successful seasons in Hindi, the platform is expanding the franchise into Telugu, adding that Sajja's 'charisma, spontaneity, and natural connection with audiences brings a distinct flavour to the show.'

This marks a deliberate regional push by Prime Video, which has increasingly invested in language-specific originals to grow its subscriber base across South India and among the global Telugu-speaking diaspora.

The production perspective

Fazila Allana, Partner and Co-Founder of SOL Productions, said the format offered a compelling canvas for Telugu storytelling. 'Bringing The Traitors to Telugu is a particularly exciting opportunity for us, because the format gives us the canvas to tell a universal story — of trust, ambition, relationships, and betrayal — while allowing us to bring in the unique personality and cultural flavour of Telugu entertainment,' she said.

Allana added that the production team sought to create 'a world that feels both grand and immersive, but at its heart, remains deeply rooted in the people and personalities playing the game.'

Streaming schedule and details

The series will stream in Telugu with English subtitles, with new episodes dropping every Thursday across four weeks, beginning 15 October. This episodic release model mirrors the Hindi seasons and is designed to sustain weekly audience debate — a format that has proven effective in driving sustained engagement on streaming platforms. For Teja Sajja, known primarily for his acting work, the hosting role represents a new chapter, signalling the growing crossover between film talent and the booming unscripted streaming space in India.
