Los Angeles, Jan 2 (NationPress) Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet is known for his commitment to authenticity in his roles. In his latest film, ‘Marty Supreme’, he opted against using a butt double.
The 30-year-old actor portrays a ping pong champion in this sports drama, featuring a striking scene where his character faces a spanking from Kevin O’Leary, who plays the role of Milton Rockwell, a pen entrepreneur, as reported by Female First UK.
Kevin recounted to Variety, “When it came time to deliver the slap, there was a stunt double available. (Chalamet) insisted on doing it himself. He wanted his own rear to be the one immortalized.”
He shared that filming lasted for hours, with director Josh Safdie calling for around 40 takes until the early hours of the morning. Surprisingly, Kevin had to resort to using a real paddle after the prop broke on the very first hit.
He mentioned, “Josh urged me, ‘You’ve got to swing harder.’ I was really going for it.”
According to Female First UK, the scene involves Rockwell humiliating Marty in front of his dinner guests as revenge for Marty’s affair with his wife, Kay Stone, played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Kevin described it as “a significant moment of humiliation” for Marty, stating, “He had irritated me so much that this punishment was warranted.”
Kevin further expressed, “I never felt satisfied that he paid enough for his actions. Even now, I’m still irritated.” Paltrow previously disclosed that her character shares a significant number of intimate scenes with the Dune star in Marty Supreme.
She told Vanity Fair, “We engage in a considerable amount of intimate moments in this film. There’s quite a lot.”
When asked if she finds herself in numerous “vulnerable positions” with the Dune star, she replied, “Beyond.” Gwyneth elaborated on her role in Marty Supreme, stating, “I play a woman married to a man involved in the so-called Ping-Pong mafia. Their meeting breathes new life into her, though it’s somewhat transactional.”
She noted that incorporating an intimacy coordinator for the sensual scenes was a new experience for her on set.
