Los Angeles, April 18 (NationPress) Actress and comedian Tina Fey expresses that her strong desire to retreat and retire is prevalent so that fresh talents in comedy can emerge.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she stated: “The urge to withdraw and retire is quite significant, as I believe it’s time to support new voices entering the industry.”
“I am already contributing to this, but I aspire to do more. Even during my walk here, I thought, ‘I am so exhausted from hearing my own voice. Surely, everyone else is tired of listening to the same individuals repeatedly.’”
Despite this, the 54-year-old actress, who has daughters Alice and Penelope with her husband, producer Jeff Richmond, conveyed her appreciation for her upcoming Netflix series 'The Four Seasons' as it has been a source of support amid her busy personal life, according to femalefirst.co.uk.
She remarked: “Navigating the responsibilities of raising children while caring for an aging parent can be fulfilling… but it also demands a lot of energy.”
“My mother passed away last summer, my eldest daughter began college in August, and my husband and I started working on 'The Four Seasons' in the fall. That kept me engaged and prevented me from feeling like a withered little granny apple head.”
Fey and her close friend Amy Poehler have co-hosted the Golden Globe Awards four times and presented the Oscars once, but she has no desire to lead another awards ceremony.
She commented: “Nikki Glaser was phenomenal at the Globes, and she deserves to keep that role indefinitely. As for me? I shouldn’t rule it out completely, but it’s such a high-risk endeavor for minimal reward.”
While Lorne Michaels has previously suggested that Fey could seamlessly take over if he ever steps down as 'SNL' showrunner, she firmly believes he is irreplaceable.
Reflecting on his comments, Fey said: “It was kind of him to say that, and I hold him in high regard.”
