Los Angeles, Dec 5 (NationPress) Actor Tom Felton is astonished that he still possesses hair after numerous bleaching treatments for his role as Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” series.
The 38-year-old thespian expressed relief that he can now swap out his bleaching routines, which occurred every nine days, for a wig that provides the iconic platinum appearance each time he steps into the shoes of Draco Malfoy for the Broadway production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Felton humorously remarked to The Guardian: “There are definitely downsides to bleaching your hair every nine days; it’s quite remarkable that I have any hair left at all. Thankfully, I wear a wig for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but it instantly puts you in a Malfoy mindset if your hair is platinum blonde.”
“I must say, I agree with Barbie: blondes have more fun,” he added.
During the initial three Harry Potter films, Felton was a teenager, and he was accompanied by his mother Sharon, grandfather, and brother Chris, according to reports from femalefirst.co.uk.
When Chris became his guardian starting from the third film, Prisoner of Azkaban, Felton often arrived on set with little sleep after spending the night fishing with him.
Felton reminisced: “Chris, my older brother, introduced me to fishing while he was my chaperone on Harry Potter. My mum chaperoned me for the first film, and my grandfather for the second.”
“He looked so much like a wizard that (director) Chris Columbus cast him at the teachers’ table next to Dumbledore.
“Then my brother was commandeered. He was probably one of the worst chaperones ever – he seemed to sleep all day, but that’s likely because we had been fishing all night.”
“Some days, we would leave set around 6 PM, drive two hours back to Surrey where we lived, head straight to a lake, cast our rods, set up a tent, sleep – barely – for a few hours, rise at 6 AM, pack up, and head right back to Hogwarts. It was a fantastic start to a lifelong love of the outdoors, fishing, and dog walking.”
