Is Tovino Thomas's 'Narivetta' Set to Release on May 23?

Chennai, May 12 (NationPress) Director Anuraj Manohar has officially announced that the highly anticipated Malayalam action drama ‘Narivetta’, starring Tovino Thomas in the main role, is set to be released globally on May 23 this year.

The film's production company, Indian Cinema Company, shared the exciting news on their Instagram account, stating, "Date Locked & Loaded!! #Narivetta Releasing On May 23."

It’s worth noting that just this past Saturday, the film team revealed that the Censor Board has approved the movie for release with a U/A certificate.

Based on true events, the film has generated significant excitement, particularly because it marks the Malayalam debut of acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Cheran.

A recently released trailer reveals that Tovino Thomas, director Cheran, and actor Suraj Venjaramoodu will all portray police characters in the film.

While Cheran takes on the role of a senior officer from Tamil Nadu, Tovino plays a subordinate cop.

The trailer indicates a storyline centered around a revolution and the quest for justice, opening with police attempting to demolish huts that they claim were illegally erected on forest land.

Cheran, as a senior police officer, seeks to gain the cooperation of the local community. However, as they attempt to persuade the locals to vacate, they resort to aggressive tactics.

A tribal man is questioned about whether he suffered injuries from the police. The shocking violence inflicted on the marginalized community instills such fear that he is hesitant to acknowledge his suffering.

At one point, Cheran admonishes Tovino, saying, "Don't try to play the hero." The trailer quickly reveals that the conflict revolves around land.

Visuals depict a standoff between law enforcement and the tribal people, who refuse to abandon their homes. Cheran is seen persuading his superiors that the well-organized protests are not solely orchestrated by tribal leaders. There is growing suspicion that the locals' resistance has backing from Maoist factions. The tribal communities are warned to dismantle their homes and evacuate, but they insist they will not leave, even if it means facing death.

In an intriguing twist, Tovino himself is interrogated by the police concerning a bullet fired from his firearm...

Produced by Tippushan and Shiyas Hassan, with a script by Abin Joseph, the film features cinematography by Vijay and music by Jakes Bejoy. Shameer Muhammed handled editing, while Bawa took charge of art direction and Arun Manohar designed the costumes.
