The Marché du Film's “Goes to Cannes” program aims to spotlight innovative voices in the world of cinema.

“This is the largest film market globally, drawing top buyers and sellers from around the world. The opportunity to present our project and engage with them was truly exhilarating. It was a bit challenging since our film diverges from mainstream Indian offerings. Its unique essence, influenced by our local geography and culture, often necessitated additional explanation. Yet, this distinction is what defines it as a Sikkimese film, and the journey has been immensely fulfilling. We maximized our meetings and are now concentrating on crafting a strategic plan based on the invaluable insights we gathered there,” Tribeny stated.

Expressing her gratitude towards the Sikkim government, the filmmaker remarked, “I want to sincerely thank our Honorable Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay for taking a personal interest in our film and offering unwavering support. A special acknowledgment goes to our Honorable Member of Lok Sabha Indra Hang Subba for facilitating my trip to Cannes and for promoting the representation of Sikkimese artists on the world stage.”

The plot of ‘Shape of Momo’ centers around a woman who is determined to resist the pressures of patriarchy. After resigning from her job, she returns to a family believed to be cursed due to the deaths of several male relatives, which leaves the women in the family feeling disempowered.
