Mumbai, May 31 (NationPress) - Actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut, known for her role in the recent biopic ‘Emergency’, is advocating for the freedom of social media influencer Sharmishta Panoli.
Sharmishta faced legal action from the Kolkata police following her purportedly inflammatory comments about Pakistan. In a heartfelt post on her Instagram Stories, Kangana shared a picture of Sharmishta, emphasizing that the influencer has already apologized and should not endure further persecution from authorities in West Bengal.
Kangana expressed, “I acknowledge that Sharmishta may have used some inappropriate language in her expression, but such phrases are common among youngsters today. She has apologized for her remarks, which should suffice; there is no reason to continue bullying and harassing her. She must be released immediately.”
Previously, in a now-removed video, Sharmishta had voiced her frustration over the silence of Bollywood actors regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor.
Reports indicate that the Kolkata police filed an FIR against the influencer under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for promoting enmity among groups based on religion, race, and more.
Following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were brutally murdered, India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist sites within Pakistan. Unlike previous operations in Uri and Pulawama, which focused on regions in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, this operation struck deep into Pakistan's Punjab, hitting the core of its military and civil administration.
The actions in Operation Sindoor were characterized by precision and restraint, resulting in the destruction of military infrastructure including nine military bases. While Pakistan's armed attacks on Indian civilians were neutralized by India’s advanced air defense systems, the counter-offensive significantly weakened the Pakistani leadership.
