Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) Actor Varun Dhawan, currently preparing for the debut of his new film ‘Border 2’, has recounted his delightful memories of working alongside the renowned Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh in the film.
During a special event held for the film on Tuesday, Varun expressed his nostalgia about singing Diljit’s tracks directly to the celebrated singer. He humorously reflected, “We used to engage in cricket matches together. We would hit the gym together. We shared ice-cream moments and had a blast with Diljit sir. I would go up to him and sing his songs to his face.”
“Sometimes you just can’t help it when someone is your favorite artist. I mean, I find myself doing such things. Why did I feel the need to sing his songs to him?” he chuckled.
On another note, he anticipates the launch of ‘Border 2’. This war-themed movie serves as a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 film, ‘Border’, which portrayed the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The sequel has been officially confirmed and is being crafted as an extensive patriotic narrative, aiming to recapture the essence and military focus that made the original a cultural touchstone.
Sunny Deol, who portrayed Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in the first film, is set to reprise his role, ensuring a link to the original storyline. The direction of the sequel is entrusted to Anurag Singh, recognized for his work on ‘Kesari’ (2019), suggesting a blend of realistic battle scenes and character-driven narratives.
Production is expected to be a collaboration between J. P. Dutta’s production house and notable studio support, indicating a substantial budget and modern production standards.
