Mumbai, Sep 24 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, recently honored with the National Award for his stellar role in Atlee's hit film 'Jawan', once pretended to have an epileptic seizure during his 11th grade to escape a class with his friends.

In a memorable appearance on the 2002 talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, hosted by the late Farooq Shaikh, Shah Rukh shared the stage with his childhood friends from Rajendra Nagar in New Delhi.

One of his friends recounted the incident, saying, “There was a new teacher in class, and we wanted to skip. So, Shah Rukh went in and dramatically started having an epileptic fit, which was quite clever. This was during class 11.”

Another friend expressed his disbelief, stating he was amazed to see SRK actually “frothing at the mouth.”

The friend continued, “We had to lift him on our shoulders to get him out of class, and we didn’t return for the next three hours.”

“Vikas then took the teacher’s shoe, claiming we needed it. He walked out with one shoe, and the four of us successfully skipped class,” he added.

The superstar, a former student of St. Columba's School and recipient of the prestigious Sword of Honour, reminisced with a smile, saying, “We used to do a lot of these pranks.”

On September 23, Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the National Award for 'Best Actor' at the 71st National Awards for his role in Atlee's action thriller 'Jawan.'

Released in 2023, 'Jawan' features Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as a father and son, alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The film follows Azad, a jailer in a women's prison, who becomes a vigilante, rallying inmates to expose corruption in India.

The 71st National Awards ceremony, held in Delhi on Tuesday, was organized by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The award process employs a structured jury system, with regional committees contributing to a central committee led by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker for the Feature Film category.
