Rising Indian hip-hop artist Yung Sammy has officially released his debut album, 'One Of A Kind', a project he describes as a celebration of individuality and cross-genre collaboration within the Indian hip-hop scene. The album, which dropped on 9 September, brings together a diverse roster of artists and sounds, positioning Yung Sammy as a distinct new voice in the country's rapidly evolving rap landscape.

The Vision Behind the Album

Yung Sammy has been candid about what he hoped to achieve with his debut. 'All I ever wanted from my debut album was for people to resonate with me, connect with my music and understand me as an artist. The name 'One Of A Kind' really speaks to me, and that is why we chose it for the album,' he said.

At its core, 'One Of A Kind' is an intimate portrait of the rapper — exploring what it means to reject predefined moulds, embrace the feeling of being different, and convert that distinction into creative strength. Each track is designed to reveal a fresh dimension of his personality while advancing a larger narrative about carving out an independent identity.

Collaborations and Key Tracks

'Every track brings a one of a kind collaboration, bringing together different styles and sounds from across Indian hip hop, with each artist stepping outside their usual style to create something fresh,' Yung Sammy said.

The album's tracklist features an eclectic mix of collaborators. 'Gang' and 'Hoodies' feature artist Calm, while 'Baagi' brings in Punjabi rapper Wazir Patar. 'Game Changer' sees MC Square — known for his run on the rap reality circuit — lend his bars, and 'Winnin'' features Raga. The project closes with 'Modus Operandi', a collaboration with Yung DSA.

A standout moment on the album is 'Crip Walk', featuring Sambata. Yung Sammy noted that Sambata pushed beyond his signature style for the track. 'Sambata brings his own flavour to it, and the music video takes that energy even further with a fun, fresh and eye catching visual of us simply vibing, flexing our bars and having fun,' he said.
