Mumbai, Sep 18 (NationPress) Former Bollywood star Zeenat Aman expressed how her beloved pet, Raphael, unveiled to her 'the beauty of love that transcends', ultimately igniting her passion for animals.
Initially, like many Indian mothers, she was strongly opposed to the idea of having a pet in their home. However, her sons, Azaan and Zahaan, eventually persuaded her to welcome Raphael into their lives.
"When the little black puppy with a white star on his chest arrived at our residence, I reluctantly gave him a pat and instructed that he be taken to the terrace. I imposed a straightforward rule: no dogs allowed in the house (sic)," she shared on her Instagram.
That rule, however, quickly fell apart once her sons went off to college, leading Aman to gradually develop a deep affection for her furry companion.
"During some of my darkest times, the only comfort I found was his wet nose resting on my lap and his loving gaze assuring me that I could weather any storm," she added.
Aman expressed how heartbroken she was by his passing, stating, "Raphael was a part of our family for 14 wonderful years. When it was time to say goodbye, I held his cherished old face in my hands and cried into his fur. Those who have never experienced the love of an animal might recoil at my next statement, but the only pain I have felt that rivals this was the loss of my mother. His death shattered me, yet it also revealed to me the beauty of love that extends beyond our own species."
Following Raphael's death, Aman welcomed another furry friend, Lily, into her life.
"Miss Lily came into my life in Cara’s arms during Raffy’s final days. Initially, she was meant to be a 'foster', but I suspect the kids understood that my impending sorrow would require an outlet that no human could provide. I was hesitant to form a bond with her at first, fearing that it would tarnish Raffy’s memory. However, her unique and sweet personality ultimately captured my heart," she wrote.
