New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh conducted a review on Thursday of the Central Government-supported TB Elimination Programme, which has successfully screened 8.78 lakh individuals throughout the city.
The meeting, convened at the Delhi Secretariat, included senior officials from the Health Department and TB cell physicians to evaluate the progress of the ongoing national campaign.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has executed the 100-day TB campaign, now referred to as the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
In addition to the 8.78 lakh screenings, nearly 3.8 lakh chest X-rays have been performed, facilitating the timely identification of new TB cases and their immediate treatment.
As part of this national initiative, Delhi is at the forefront, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Health for All', he stated.
The Delhi government aims to screen 50 lakh individuals. There are currently 190 diagnostic and 365 treatment centres in the national capital, offering quality, free care to all TB patients.
Remarkably, Delhi has met 99 percent of the National TB Elimination Programme target for January to November 2025.
In recognition of its significant efforts and public engagement, Delhi received the Jan Bhagidari Award from Union Minister J.P. Nadda this year, he added.
The Delhi Government's dedication to community engagement is further showcased in the success of the Nikshay Mitra Initiative, aimed at providing TB patients with nutrition, vocational training, diagnostic assistance, and psychological support.
Since its launch, Delhi has recorded 4,313 Nikshay Mitras, who have collectively distributed 2,23,457 food baskets, aiding 1,03,593 TB patients, he noted.
The Health Minister stated: “Delhi is unwavering in its commitment to achieving a TB-free nation. The progress we are witnessing stems from effective teamwork, public support, and the relentless dedication of our healthcare professionals.”
“We will continue to enhance our screening processes, support systems, and community participation to ensure timely care, nutrition, and encouragement for every TB patient. Our mission is clear—Delhi will lead in making TB Mukt Bharat a reality,” he remarked.
