Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the state administration to prepare a proposal aimed at creating a Public Health Infrastructure Corporation. This initiative seeks to maximize the availability of health department schemes and facilities online while establishing cutting-edge infrastructure in the health sector.

The Chief Minister emphasized that citizens should have access to quality health services within a radius of at least 5 km.

During a meeting to assess the operations of the public health department, he stated that there should be an enhanced focus on coordination between the Public Health Department and the Medical Education Department.

“Outdated practices need to be reformed. We must strive to provide maximum treatment at primary health centers across the state. Following the model of Tamil Nadu, we should offer 13 different health services at primary health centers. The government is committed to ensuring that citizens receive health services conveniently and at affordable rates. Agencies must conduct comprehensive studies and promptly submit their findings for implementation. Special attention should be directed towards increasing the number of specialist doctors, launching new health facilities, and modernizing district and sub-district hospitals,” he added.

Chief Minister Fadnavis noted that improving drug supply and equipment management is critical, alongside increasing the use of digital technology in healthcare and expanding the number of government and private hospitals covered under Ayushman Bharat and state government insurance schemes.

He insisted on the need for stringent actions to keep treatment costs manageable.

“We should enhance special health centers, mobile health units, and telemedicine services in tribal and remote regions, with a focus on reforms in rural areas. Health services must be coordinated with local administrations. Regulations concerning private hospitals should be enforced rigorously. Health education and awareness initiatives for citizens are essential,” he stated.

Additionally, he directed the establishment of a dedicated system for managing health department data.
