His visit to the UK, taking place from July 23 to 24, is at the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and marks PM Modi's fourth official trip to the nation.
“Throughout this visit, both nations will evaluate the advancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), with particular emphasis on trade and economic relations, technology and innovation, defense and security, climate change, health, education, and the bond between people,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs in a recent press release.
The dialogue will also address regional and global issues of shared concern.
This trip is anticipated to provide fresh impetus to the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), as both leaders seek to assess progress and identify new avenues for collaboration, including the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
During his stay, PM Modi is expected to meet with King Charles III.
In the second phase of his tour, PM Modi will visit the Maldives for a state visit from July 25 to 26, following an invitation from Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. This will be PM Modi's third visit to the Maldives and the first by any head of state during President Muizzu's administration.
“The two leaders will review the progress made in executing the India-Maldives Joint Vision for a ‘Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership’, which was established during the Maldivian President's visit to India in October 2024,” according to MEA.
Notably, PM Modi will serve as the Guest of Honour at the Maldives' 60th Independence Day celebrations on July 26.
This visit underscores India's dedication to reinforcing connections with its maritime neighbors as part of the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the Vision MAHASAGAR.
The leaders are expected to evaluate progress in crucial sectors such as infrastructure, defense cooperation, and economic connectivity.
These high-profile diplomatic initiatives aim to strengthen India's global presence while reaffirming its strategic interests in the Indian Ocean region and beyond.
