His trip to the UK, slated for July 23-24, was initiated at the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and marks PM Modi's fourth visit to the nation.
In his statement prior to departure, PM Modi remarked, "India and the UK share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that has seen remarkable advancement in recent years. Our cooperation spans various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, innovation, defence, education, research, sustainability, health, and people-to-people ties."
He indicated intentions to hold bilateral talks with PM Starmer to further strengthen the economic partnership, aiming for enhanced prosperity, growth, and job creation in both nations.
"I eagerly anticipate meeting His Majesty King Charles III during this visit," he added.
On the second leg of his tour, PM Modi is scheduled for a State Visit to Maldives from July 25-26 at the invitation of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. This will be his third visit to the island nation and the first by any head of state during President Muizzu's administration.
Notably, PM Modi will serve as the Guest of Honour at the 60th Independence Day celebrations of Maldives on July 26, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This visit underscores India's dedication to bolstering connections with maritime neighbours under the 'Neighbourhood First' policy and Vision MAHASAGAR.
PM Modi expressed enthusiasm for discussions with President Muizzu and other political leaders of the Indian Ocean archipelago, aiming to promote a Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership and enhance cooperation for peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
"I am confident that this visit will bring tangible outcomes, benefiting our citizens and promoting our Neighbourhood First Policy," PM Modi concluded.
