New Delhi, Aug 29 (NationPress) In a bid to enhance the mental and emotional health of its senior community, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman Keshav Chandra officially opened a Meditation Centre at the Aashirwad Senior Citizens Home located on Kali Bari Marg on Friday.
While addressing the elder attendees, Chandra remarked, "Meditation is not just a route to inner tranquility but also a wellspring of energy and stability. This centre will function as a haven for mental well-being, enabling our senior citizens to reconnect with their inner selves, find peace, and rejuvenate their spirits."
NDMC Director (Welfare) Anjum Siddiqui stated that the newly launched Meditation Centre has been designed as a tranquil space for reflection and rejuvenation specifically for senior citizens.
Recognizing meditation as an effective method for fostering inner stability, lowering stress, and enhancing resilience, the NDMC aspires to provide a peaceful environment for the elderly within the premises, thus eliminating the necessity to seek such facilities externally, Siddiqui explained.
Medical Officer (Ayurveda) and Coordinator (Ayush projects) Naveen Sharma indicated that three additional meditation centres are set to be established by the NDMC shortly.
Out of these, two will be set up in other old age homes: Aaradhana Niketan at Bhagwan Das Lane, Mandi House, and Sandhya Niketan at Netaji Nagar.
He added that a meditation centre has also been proposed at the NDMC headquarters, Palika Kendra, aimed at supporting employees' mental well-being and alleviating stress.
This meditation centre is intended to create a serene and supportive atmosphere, allowing the elderly to engage in meditation and mindfulness practices.
Its objective is to enhance the emotional and spiritual wellness of senior citizens by providing them with a dedicated space for introspection, while also fostering a sense of peace, positivity, and community among peers.
The Meditation Centre at Aashirwad Senior Citizens Home symbolizes NDMC's commitment to treating the elderly with dignity, compassion, and holistic support.
The inauguration was graced by NDMC Secretary Tariq Thomas, along with senior officials and residents of the old age home.
