New Delhi, July 25 (NationPress) The Union government recently updated the Parliament regarding the surge in the utilization of Ayushman Cards, Ayushman Vay Vandana cards, and the Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA), reflecting a notable enhancement in public health across the nation.
In a written statement to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav provided insights into transformative measures and initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and fairness for citizens.
“As part of AB-PMJAY, more than 41 crore Ayushman cards have been created, with 20.47 crore of these cards issued to female beneficiaries,” the Minister disclosed.
“Regarding the Vay Vandana scheme, a cumulative total of 75.41 lakh Ayushman Vay Vandana cards have been issued, out of which 32.3 lakh are for female beneficiaries,” he added.
The Ayushman Vay Vandana Scheme offers free healthcare benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh annually to all Indian citizens aged 70 and above, irrespective of income or social status.
Moreover, the AB-PMJAY scheme has also been broadened to encompass 37 lakh Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and their families.
“Approximately 10.45 lakhs Ayushman Cards have been allocated for ASHAs, 15.01 lakhs for AWWs, and 15.05 lakhs for AWHs,” Jadhav reported.
The Minister further highlighted advancements in India's digital health infrastructure through the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) initiative.
“To date, over 79.55 crore ABHA accounts have been established, with more than 64.28 crore health records linked to ABHA as of July,” Jadhav stated.
ABHA, which was developed under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), enables citizens to access and manage their digital health records with consent across the healthcare system.
The ABDM registries facilitate access to health records and provide gateways for easy access to individual health records, allowing for secure sharing through 'Scan and Share,' a QR-code-based OPD (Outpatient Department) registration service. This significantly reduces long wait times at registration counters and minimizes the entry of incomplete or inaccurate data.
“As of July, a total of 22,404 health facilities across 36 States/UTs have generated 12.48 crore OPD registrations, averaging about 3 lakh registrations enabled by this service,” the Minister noted.
