ADB Grants $25.45 Million to Boost Water Services in Solomon Islands

Manila, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) declared on Wednesday the approval of a $25.45 million grant aimed at supporting the Solomon Islands in establishing sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient water supply and sanitation services.
The Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project focuses on executing critical elements of the government's water and sanitation sector strategy to improve access to piped water supply and sanitation facilities, increase hygiene awareness, encourage water conservation, and enhance fecal sludge management, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The ADB noted that this recent funding will address the cost overruns that have arisen due to the escalating expenses of goods and services, which have surged notably since March 2020.
The project, which totals $125 million, is being funded collaboratively by the ADB, the World Bank, the Global Environment Facility, and the European Union.
