Canberra, Oct 13 (NationPress) Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, is scheduled to visit India this week to engage in a series of significant discussions and lead the inaugural Renewable Energy Partnership Ministers Meeting.

In New Delhi, he will conduct various meetings with both Indian and Australian officials, including Minister Pralhad Joshi, who oversees New and Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. This meeting will mark the first gathering of the Renewable Energy Partnership Ministers Meeting, according to a statement released by the Australian Ministry for Climate Change and Energy on Monday.

Bowen is also set to meet with Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the fifth India-Australia Energy Dialogue.

Previously, in November 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, convened for the second India-Australia Annual Summit during the Group of 20 (G20) Summit held in Rio de Janeiro.

During their discussions, the two leaders expressed a shared commitment to accelerate efforts, collaborate effectively, and utilize complementary capabilities to enhance climate action.

The Prime Ministers welcomed the establishment of the India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership (REP), aimed at fostering practical collaboration in critical areas like solar PV, green hydrogen, energy storage, reciprocal investment in renewable projects, and enhanced skills training for the future renewables workforce.

Additionally, the Australian Minister will travel to China, where he will meet with Huang Runqiu, the Minister of Ecology and Environment, for the ninth Australia-China Ministerial Dialogue on Climate Change in Beijing.
