Are Baloch rights being violated through extrajudicial killings by Pakistani forces?

Quetta, Jan 20 (NationPress) A prominent human rights organization raised alarms on Tuesday regarding what it termed as the persistent trend of extrajudicial killings in Balochistan's Mastung district, purportedly executed under the pretext of "encounters" by the Pakistani security forces.
In a statement, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) condemned these occurrences, asserting that they exemplify a systematic abuse of authority where Baloch civilians are unjustly deprived of their right to life without proper legal procedures.
"There are alarming fears that many of the victims of these fabricated encounters are individuals who had previously been forcibly disappeared. Their families, who have tirelessly searched for years, are left in perpetual distress, burdened by each report of an encounter killing. The concealment of remains and refusal to provide information further exacerbates their torment and constitutes cruel and inhumane treatment," the BVJ remarked.
The rights organization reported that these extrajudicial killings have persisted for years with total impunity, noting that no meaningful investigations have been initiated by the Pakistani authorities, nor has there been any accountability. This trend, they argue, indicates an institutional tolerance for serious violations of human rights.
The BVJ has called for immediate independent inquiries, public revelation of victim identities, and decisive actions to eradicate enforced disappearances and staged encounter killings throughout the province.
Previously, on Monday, the Baloch Women Forum (BWF) voiced significant concerns about rampant human rights violations across Balochistan, highlighting a notable rise in abuses against civilians, especially women, perpetrated by Pakistani security forces.
In their report titled 'Baloch Women Victimization in 2025', the BWF underscored that extrajudicial killings continue to be a grave issue in Balochistan, particularly concerning targeted murders, fabricated encounters, in-custody deaths, and fake-explosive killings.
The region has witnessed a severe nature of rights violations and has become a hub for "atrocities without accountability."
The forum pointed out that numerous Baloch women have also endured direct violence through various means, particularly torture during unlawful detentions, indiscriminate gunfire, and related abuses at the hands of Pakistani forces.
Balochistan remains engulfed in relentless atrocities inflicted by Pakistani authorities, who enable death squads in the region to carry out enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and unlawful detentions of Baloch individuals.
