Islamabad, April 15 (NationPress) A devastating roadside bomb explosion in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province resulted in the deaths of at least three policemen and left 16 others injured on Tuesday, according to officials.

The tragic event occurred near the Kund Masuri area in the Mastung district, where a police bus transporting personnel from a training center in Kalat district was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), as revealed by Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the Balochistan government.

Rind further stated, “The condition of two injured individuals is critical.”

All injured parties have been transferred to local hospitals, with those in serious condition being moved to Quetta for more advanced medical care.

According to Rind, the targeted police officers were part of the Balochistan Constabulary and had been assigned to secure a sit-in protest organized by the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Earlier reports indicated that 19 policemen were wounded in the explosion.

In response to the incident, an emergency has been declared at Bolan Medical College Hospital and Civil Hospital Quetta to ensure proper treatment for the victims, according to officials.

Authorities have initiated an investigation and have requested a detailed report on the incident, the spokesperson added.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, urging that the best medical care be provided to the injured. He also instructed provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar to oversee the medical response personally.

“There will be zero tolerance for any negligence in the treatment of the injured,” Bugti stated.

“Those involved in this heinous act will not be spared under any circumstances,” added the Chief Minister.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

Balochistan, the largest yet least populated province of Pakistan, has experienced sporadic violence in recent years, with many assaults targeting security personnel, often attributed to separatist and extremist groups.
