Dhaka, Sep 1 (NationPress) The Bangladesh Awami League on Monday issued a strong condemnation regarding the attack, vandalism, looting, and arson at the office of one of the nation’s prominent political parties - the Jatiya Party (JaPa).
Local media reported that on Saturday evening, the central office of JaPa located in Kakrail, Dhaka, was assaulted and set ablaze, following violent clashes between its activists and those of Gono Odhikar Parishad in the vicinity.
In response to the attack, Khandaker Delwar Jalali, the Press Secretary and Joint Secretary General for JaPa, stated, "Arsonists ignited a fire at the Jatiya Party central office in Kakrail this evening, destroying books from the ground-floor library, essential documents, and furniture."
“This incident occurred after Jatiya Party leaders and activists had completed their scheduled activities and left the office at the request of law enforcement. Subsequently, approximately 20 to 30 individuals breached police barricades and executed the arson attack,” he noted.
The Awami League criticized the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, alleging that mob terrorism is rampant in Bangladesh, stripping citizens of their rights while the interim government remains silent and indifferent.
Expressing deep concern, the party stated that strange and horrific incidents are continuously occurring throughout the nation.
“Based on the pattern of these occurrences, it seems that the illegitimate usurper, the murderous fascist Yunus clique, is either deliberately orchestrating these events or showing complete indifference. Only a government lacking accountability or responsibility to its citizens could cling to power in such a reckless manner,” the Awami League stated.
“This illegitimate usurper, the murderous fascist Yunus clique, has transformed the country into a living hell. We urge all politically conscious and patriotic citizens to unite and rescue Bangladesh and its people from this inferno,” the statement emphasized.
Recently, the Awami League declared that Bangladesh in 2025 is no longer a democracy but has devolved into a nation engulfed by fear, violence, and betrayal. Under the shadow of Muhammad Yunus’s “illegitimate interim regime,” the promise of freedom has deteriorated into a "nightmare of persecution," where human rights are not only violated but “dismantled.”
