Beijing, Sep 11 (NationPress) The Embassy of India in Beijing expressed gratitude towards China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the local authorities in the Tibet Autonomous Region as the border crossings utilized by pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra have reopened, allowing them to safely return to India through Nepal.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the Indian Embassy disclosed, "It has been confirmed that the border crossings are once again operational, facilitating the return of Indian pilgrims participating in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nepal in a secure and efficient manner. We express our appreciation to the local authorities in the Tibet Autonomous Region and China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their swift support. Our helpline numbers remain active for assistance."
This announcement follows a prior advisory issued by the Embassy concerning Indian nationals stranded in the Tibet Autonomous Region while undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra arranged by private tour operators through Nepal.
In the advisory, Indian citizens were urged to exercise caution and adhere to all guidelines provided by local authorities as well as the Embassies of India in Beijing and Kathmandu. The Indian Embassy also provided helpline numbers for those needing assistance.
The advisory was prompted by rising unrest in Nepal, where protests erupted on Monday, resulting in violence that claimed over two dozen lives in and around Kathmandu.
In the advisory released on Wednesday, the Indian Embassy in Beijing stated, "The current situation in Nepal has disrupted the travel plans of Indian citizens participating in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra organized by private tour operators via Nepal. In light of ongoing developments, Indian citizens currently in the Tibet Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China, are advised to take necessary precautions. Considering the high altitude and difficult terrain, they should prioritize their health and well-being. They should also follow the advisories from local authorities and the Embassies of India in Beijing and Kathmandu."
