Patna, Sep 13 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Purnea district in Bihar to lead a significant rally and unveil a range of key development initiatives totaling approximately Rs 36,000 crore, including the highly anticipated Purnea Airport.

The inauguration of the airport will establish Bihar's fourth operational commercial airport, joining the ranks of Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga.

The Prime Minister will also unveil the Interim Terminal Building at the new Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport, which is expected to greatly improve passenger capacity in northeastern Bihar.

In line with his administration's commitment to enhancing connectivity, he will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for several railway projects, including the pivotal Bikramshila-Katareah rail line (valued at Rs 2,170 crore), which will establish a direct rail connection between the Seemanchal and Bhagalpur regions.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Araria–Galgalia (Thakurganj) rail line (costing Rs 4,410 crore) and launch new train services, including the Vande Bharat Express connecting Jogbani to Danapur, as well as the Amrit Bharat Express linking Saharsa–Chheharta (to Amritsar) and Jogbani–Erode.

These initiatives will enhance connectivity and integration across districts such as Araria, Purnea, Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria, Begusarai, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, and Patna, while establishing links between Bihar and states like Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will launch the National Makhana Board in Bihar, which aims to foster production, advance technology, enhance post-harvest management, and boost exports and branding.

Bihar, which is responsible for nearly 90 percent of India's total makhana production, stands to benefit significantly from this board.

Regions including Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Araria—the state's makhana production hubs—are expected to see direct benefits.

Among the notable projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a 3x800 MW thermal power project at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur, which represents Bihar’s largest private sector investment, estimated at Rs 25,000 crore.

Utilizing ultra-supercritical, low-emission technology, this project will enhance the state's power supply and energy security.

He will also launch Phase 1 of the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project, which is valued at over Rs 2,680 crore, focusing on canal upgrades, desilting, reconstruction, and capacity enhancement.

This project aims to improve irrigation, manage floods, and bolster agricultural resilience across northeastern Bihar.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate a Sex-Sorted Semen Facility in Purnea, the first of its kind in eastern and northeastern India, as part of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.

This facility is set to produce 5 lakh doses annually using indigenous technology, assisting dairy farmers by increasing the chances of female calf births, thereby alleviating economic pressures on cattle farmers and enhancing their incomes.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will participate in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for 35,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY (R) and 5,920 urban beneficiaries under PMAY (U), handing over keys to select recipients.

He will also distribute Community Investment Funds amounting to Rs 500 crore to Cluster Level Federations under DAY-NRLM, thereby strengthening self-help groups led by women and enhancing rural livelihoods.

In addition to PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda will also visit Bihar next week.
