Is PM Modi inaugurating Patna’s new international airport terminal on May 29?

Patna, May 28 (NationPress) The eagerly anticipated new terminal of Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna is poised for its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 1,400 crore, this cutting-edge facility covers an area of 65,155 square meters, significantly larger than the current terminal.

The new terminal features 54 check-in counters, five aerobridges, eight X-ray baggage scanners, five baggage conveyor belts, multi-level car parking, a VIP lounge, eateries, and commercial spaces.

With a design capacity for 4,500 passengers daily, the terminal’s annual capacity will surge from 25 lakh to 1 crore. Daily flight operations are anticipated to increase from 34 to 75.

The architectural design is inspired by Madhubani art and Nalanda University, featuring beautiful representations of Chhath Puja, Lord Buddha, Mahavira, and Patna Sahib Gurudwara, imparting a distinct Bihari essence to the terminal.

A notable 100-foot-tall tricolor now adorns the airport grounds, accompanied by a dedicated tribute to Jayaprakash Narayan.

On this same day, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the upcoming Bihta Airport, situated 35 km from Patna.

This new airport, designed for larger aircraft, will cover 68,000 square meters over 116 acres, with the capability of accommodating 3,000 passengers per hour and 50 lakh annually.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for over 16 major projects worth Rs 50,000 crore.

The foundation for the Nabinagar Thermal Power Plant in Aurangabad will also be laid, representing an investment of Rs 29,947.91 crore, and will generate 1,500 MW, marking NTPC’s second-largest power plant in Bihar.

Other projects include the inauguration of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane highway (Rs 5519 crore), improvements on NH-27 Gopalganj (Rs 249 crore), automatic rail signaling on Sasaram–Anugrah Narayan Road (Rs 43 crore), and a third railway line between Son Nagar–Muhammadganj (65 km) worth Rs 1,338 crore, along with hostel and staff quarters at JNV Jehanabad (Rs 8 crore).

This will mark PM Modi’s first trip to Bihar following “Operation Sindoor”, and his fourth visit to the state in just five months.

PM Modi is expected to arrive at Patna airport at 5 PM. Following the terminal inauguration, a grand roadshow lasting approximately one hour is scheduled from Patna Airport to the BJP State Headquarters via Sheikhpura Mor, Hartali Mor, and Income Tax roundabout.

Later that evening, the Prime Minister will engage with BJP workers, providing them with the “Mantra” for the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, stating, “The double-engine government led by PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ensures rapid development and job creation. His fourth visit in five months underscores his confidence in Bihar and Nitish Kumar’s leadership.”

Choudhary emphasized that the central government’s investment in Bihar's road and bridge infrastructure across 20 districts will enhance connectivity, create employment opportunities, and improve access to education and healthcare in rural areas.

Bihar Industry Minister Nitish Mishra remarked, “It is a tremendous honor for us that the Prime Minister is visiting Bihar. His presence is particularly significant as it marks his first visit after Operation Sindoor. These projects exemplify his steadfast commitment to the state's advancement.”
