Patna, March 13 (NationPress) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the under-construction terminal building at Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on Thursday morning.

Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, along with other senior officials from the Bihar government and airport authorities were present during the visit.

During the inspection, CM Kumar evaluated the progress of the new terminal building, approach roads, and amenities for passengers. He instructed officials to hasten the remaining tasks, while airport authorities assured him that the project would be finished on schedule.

"Upon completion, the new terminal will offer enhanced facilities for passengers," CM Nitish Kumar stated while addressing the media.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that construction is progressing rapidly and is anticipated to be completed on time. The new terminal is designed to improve the passenger experience and modernise Patna’s air connectivity infrastructure.

Recently, CM Nitish Kumar has made aviation and urban infrastructure development a priority throughout Bihar. Besides Patna, he has also reviewed Bihta Airport on the outskirts of the city. Land for the airport's expansion and development has already been handed over to the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

Patna Airport manages the highest volume of passenger traffic in Bihar, providing flights to major Indian cities and international routes to Kathmandu.

Moreover, Gaya Airport supports international travel, particularly for Buddhist pilgrims, while Darbhanga Airport is becoming a significant hub for regional air connectivity in North Bihar.

The Bihar government, in partnership with the Centre, is committed to enhancing regional air connectivity. In the Union Budget for 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman approved the establishment of three new greenfield airports in Bihar. The construction of Purnea Airport is already in progress, with land acquisition completed.

CM Nitish Kumar continues to be actively involved in overseeing major infrastructure initiatives, ensuring enhanced connectivity, urban development, and expansion of regional air travel across the state.
