What to Expect from PM Modi's Inauguration of Purnea Airport?

Patna, Sep 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to inaugurate the Purnea Airport this Monday, where he will also unveil and lay the groundwork for development initiatives totaling nearly Rs 36,000 crore across Bihar.

The inaugural commercial flight will depart from Purnea heading to Ahmedabad, followed by a journey to Kolkata later that day.

Flight reservations for both destinations have already been finalized.

Future enhancements aim to connect Purnea with Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, significantly improving connectivity for the Seemanchal and Kosi regions.

In addition to the airport, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new Araria–Galgalia–Thakurganj railway line, valued at Rs 4,410 crore.

He will also launch the Jogbani–Danapur Vande Bharat Express, Jogbani–Erode Amrit Bharat Express, and Saharsa–Amritsar Amrit Bharat Express.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Vikramshila–Kataria rail line, estimated at Rs 2,170 crore, and the 2400 MW Thermal Power Project in Bhagalpur’s Pirpaiti block, worth ₹25,000 crore. He will also announce the Kosi–Mechi Interstate River Link Project (Phase 1) at Rs 2,680 crore, and various Namami Gange initiatives in Bhagalpur, which include sewage treatment plants and drinking water projects for Darbhanga, Katihar, and Bhagalpur.

As part of the housing and social development initiative, Griha Pravesh will be conducted for 40,920 families under the PM Awas Yojana, with homes constructed at a cost of Rs 603 crore. Additionally, a community investment fund of Rs 500 crore will be distributed, along with the establishment of the National Makhana Board to assist traditional fox nut farmers in Bihar, and a Semen Bank facility in Purnea costing Rs 64 crore.

Officials have indicated that these projects will herald a “new era of employment, connectivity, and social uplift” in Bihar, especially in the underdeveloped border districts of Seemanchal and Kosi.

Enhanced air and rail connectivity is expected to promote trade, tourism, and job opportunities for millions.

This visit signifies one of the most substantial development packages for Bihar in recent years, emphasizing infrastructure, connectivity, power, housing, and water supply.

As the event approaches the upcoming Assembly elections, PM Modi will also host a large public rally at the Sheeshabadi SSB Camp Ground, located at Gulabbag Zero Mile in Purnea.

The entire city has been adorned with banners, cutouts, and welcome gates, while extensive security measures have been implemented by the SPG, CRPF, and local police.

The Prime Minister's rally is under tight security with restrictions on drones, multiple security drills, and 1,500 personnel assigned to the venue.

Traffic advisories have been issued by the police, and a district control room has been established to oversee the situation.

Observers note that the timing of these significant announcements, right before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, carries considerable political significance.

PM Modi had committed to substantial development projects for Bihar during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and today’s initiative is being framed as the realization of that promise.
