Ceremonial Welcome for Sri Lankan President at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Dec 16 (NationPress) The President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is visiting New Delhi for three days, was given a splendid ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. This visit signifies his first international trip as the head of state.
During this visit, President Dissanayake is anticipated to engage in significant discussions with Prime Minister Modi later today, with the aim of strengthening relations and tackling vital regional and global issues.
President Dissanayake, who took office in September after winning Sri Lanka's presidential and parliamentary elections, was greeted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the ceremonial event, Presidents Murmu and Dissanayake took the opportunity to introduce their respective ministers, diplomats, and senior officials, showcasing the friendly relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi was also present at this occasion.
The Sri Lankan President's visit, which is taking place from December 15 to 17, aims to enhance collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, energy, and maritime security.
On the previous day, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and emphasized the island nation's crucial role in India's Neighbourhood First policy and SAGAR Outlook.
"I am pleased to meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the commencement of his first State Visit to India. Sri Lanka is pivotal to both India's Neighbourhood First policy and SAGAR Outlook. I am confident that the discussions with PM Narendra Modi tomorrow will foster greater trust and deeper collaboration," the EAM stated in a post on X.
Earlier, President Dissanayake mentioned that he had productive discussions regarding issues of common interest during his meetings with EAM Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
