Jerusalem, June 21 (NationPress) On Saturday, ten drones were reportedly launched from Iran targeting various locations in Israel, as per the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). One of these drones successfully struck a two-story residential building in Beit Shean, a city in northern Israel. Although the building suffered extensive damage, fortunately, there were no reported casualties, according to Israel's national emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA).
Another drone landed in an uninhabited area within the Negev desert in southern Israel, resulting in no injuries or damage. The remaining eight drones were intercepted effectively by the Israeli air defense system, the IDF confirmed.
Earlier that same day, in the pre-dawn hours, five missiles were launched from Iran towards central Israel, all of which were intercepted by the Israeli air force, and again, no casualties were reported, according to the IDF.
The MDA stated that a fragment from one of the interceptions fell, igniting a fire in a residential building located in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
Moreover, the IDF claimed to have eliminated Saeed Izadi, a high-ranking Iranian military figure who played a pivotal role in planning attacks against Israel. Izadi was reportedly killed in a targeted airstrike by the IDF in the Qom region of Iran.
In a post on the social media platform X, the IDF stated, "Saeed Izadi, a founder of the Iranian regime's strategy to eliminate Israel, was taken out in a precise IDF strike in the Qom area. He was also the commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force, serving as a key coordinator between Iran and Hamas, and significantly involved in the orchestration of the October 7 massacre."
The IDF emphasized that Izadi played a crucial role in the military coordination between senior commanders of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hamas leaders. He was also responsible for directing Iranian financial support to Hamas for terrorist activities against Israel.
“During the ongoing conflict, Izadi directed Hamas forces operating from Lebanon. Since then, he had been actively engaged in rebuilding Hamas' military capabilities and ensuring that Hamas maintained control over Gaza,” the IDF concluded in its post.
