Dublin, March 7 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar commenced his journey in Ireland at the iconic General Post Office Museum and Trinity College, engaging with notable Irish figures, including former Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

The 1916 Easter Rising illustrated in the General Post Office Museum holds a significant meaning for many who fought for freedom from colonial rule, he remarked on Thursday.

In a series of updates on X, the EAM stated, "Kicked off my visit to Ireland at the renowned General Post Office Museum in Dublin. The 1916 Easter Rising resonates deeply for countless individuals who battled for liberation from colonialism."

He also toured Trinity College, where he explored the Old Library.

Additionally, he engaged in discussions with Irish leaders, including Indian-origin former Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Ministers James Lawless, Robert Troy, and Member of Parliament Malcolm Byrne.
