Cairo, Feb 9 (NationPress) -- On Sunday, Egypt revealed that it will host an emergency Arab summit on February 27 to discuss the latest events concerning the Palestinian issue and the Gaza Strip, as stated by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The decision to convene the summit came after extensive consultations between Egypt and various Arab nations, including Palestine, which requested the meeting, along with coordination with Bahrain, the current chair of the Arab League (AL) summit and its Secretariat.

This announcement follows controversial comments made by US President Donald Trump, who suggested the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring nations, including Egypt and Jordan. This proposal has been met with widespread rejection on both regional and international levels, according to reports from Xinhua.

During a recent press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump indicated that the US intended to take control of Gaza and redevelop it following the relocation of its Palestinian inhabitants.

Trump has previously proposed similar ideas, which have been categorically rejected by both Egypt and Jordan, who have consistently opposed any forced displacement of Palestinians.

Arab nations have also denounced Trump's recent remarks about relocating Gaza's residents and creating a 'Riviera of the Middle East', a sentiment echoed by Palestinian leaders.

This proposal was put forth during Trump's meeting with Netanyahu in Washington D.C.

Speaking with reporters at the White House, Trump described the idea as 'a real estate transaction', stating that the US would be an investor in that region. He mentioned that he was 'in no rush to do anything.'

Several countries condemned Netanyahu's suggestion that Saudi Arabia had sufficient land for a Palestinian state, which he made in a joking manner but that resonated throughout the region amidst rising tensions.

Recently, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in a series of discussions with several Arab counterparts to unite regional efforts against the US proposal for the displacement of the Palestinian people.

Following directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Abdelatty contacted the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, and Sudan.
