Seoul, May 28 (NationPress) Former Prime Minister of South Korea, Han Duck-soo, announced on Wednesday his endorsement for Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party (PPP), while revealing his intention to participate in early voting this week.

Han shared his support through a post on Facebook just a day prior to the commencement of early voting for the upcoming presidential election on June 3.

"In every conversation I've had, I've sincerely urged people to rally behind candidate Kim with the same passion they showed me during my brief presidential campaign," he expressed, highlighting his support following the PPP's nomination of Kim as their final candidate.

"As I endorse candidate Kim, I plan to visit a local polling station early tomorrow morning," he added.

Han, who held the position of Prime Minister during the tenure of the ousted former President Yoon Suk Yeol, temporarily took over as acting leader when Yoon faced impeachment and subsequent removal from office due to his failed attempt to impose martial law in December.

"The Republic of Korea finds itself at a pivotal juncture—between stagnation and progress," Han stated, expressing his apprehensions regarding a future under liberal Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung.

"If those advocating for a rollback of the rule of law gain further power, achieving both economic growth and national unity will be challenging," he warned.

In a related development, on May 27, both Han Duck-soo and former Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok were barred from leaving the country due to their status as suspects in an alleged insurrection case tied to former President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed martial law declaration.

This travel ban was reportedly enforced around mid-month.

The police's special investigative unit, currently probing this prominent case, summoned Han, Choi, and former Interior Minister Lee Sang-min for approximately ten hours of questioning regarding their suspected involvement in Yoon's martial law announcement on December 3 of last year. Notably, Lee had already been subjected to a travel ban in December.
