New Delhi, Nov 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Sunday that the strategic partnership between India and Italy is experiencing ongoing enhancement, following his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

In a message on X, PM Modi expressed that he had a "very productive conversation" with PM Meloni, emphasizing that the bilateral ties are growing in a way that positively impacts the citizens of both nations.

"I had a very productive conversation with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The India-Italy Strategic Partnership is evolving robustly, significantly benefiting the populations of our countries," PM Modi noted in his post.

He also highlighted the primary topics of discussion during their meeting.

In another message on X, PM Modi mentioned that the two leaders talked about enhancing cooperation in various fields including trade, investment, defense, innovation, artificial intelligence, space, and education.

"We discussed further enhancing our collaboration in sectors such as trade, investment, defense, innovation, AI, space, and education. India and Italy are launching a Joint Initiative to tackle the financing of terrorism. This is a critical and timely initiative that will fortify our collective efforts against terrorism and its networks," PM Modi stated.

While further specifics of the discussions were not revealed, PM Modi stressed the consistent advancement of cooperation between New Delhi and Rome.

This social media update comes at a moment when India and Italy have been collaborating across numerous sectors, including defense partnerships, clean energy, trade, mobility agreements, and high-level political consultations.

The two leaders have met several times over the past two years at multilateral forums as well as through direct interactions, boosting the diplomatic visibility between the two countries.

PM Modi's observations reflect the momentum in bilateral relations since the elevation of their partnership to a Strategic Partnership in 2023.

Importantly, both nations have earlier concentrated on areas such as industrial cooperation, migration and skilled workforce pathways, climate initiatives, startup ecosystems, and security coordination.

India and Italy are also striving to enhance trade volumes and broaden private-sector engagement, with both governments promoting deeper industry interactions. Recent discussions have underscored interest in sectors such as semiconductors, digital technologies, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Italian Prime Minister Meloni has consistently engaged with India through high-level visits and international summits. Her meetings with PM Modi have included dialogues on regional matters, multilateral collaboration, and global economic challenges.

PM Modi's recent statements indicate a sustained approach in their bilateral relationship, with both nations expressing confidence in the future trajectory of their strategic alliance.

Previously, on Saturday, PM Modi met PM Meloni just prior to the opening session of the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Both leaders greeted each other warmly, showcasing the strong bond that has significantly deepened the India-Italy friendship in recent years.

PM Modi is among several key global leaders attending the summit on November 22-23.

He had last met PM Meloni during the 51st G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada in June, where both leaders committed to reinforcing the friendship between India and Italy.

In September, PM Modi referred to PM Meloni as an "extraordinary political leader who merges ideas with compassion," and described her autobiography as a "Mann Ki Baat," or thoughts from the heart.

In the preface to her book titled 'I Am Giorgia', PM Modi highlighted the strong ties between India and Italy, which he described as rooted in "shared civilizational values such as heritage preservation, community strength, and the celebration of femininity as a guiding force."

In response, Meloni acknowledged that the connection between both nations remains robust.
