Washington, Nov 16 (NationPress) The Chief of the Indian Navy, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, made an official visit to the USS Daniel Inouye, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. During his visit, he received an informative briefing on the destroyer's enhancements, multi-mission capabilities, and its advanced maritime surveillance systems.

In addition, Admiral Tripathi toured the Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam where he was updated on the operational strengths and ongoing programs of the US Pacific Fleet and its associated units.

The Indian Navy emphasized in a statement on Sunday that Admiral Tripathi's visit underscores the significance of fortifying interoperability and improving operational coherence between the naval forces of both countries.

In a post shared on X, the Indian Navy stated, "As part of the ongoing visit, Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, CNS, visited the US Navy's state-of-the-art Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Daniel Inouye. He received a briefing on the destroyer’s cutting-edge modifications, multi-mission versatility, and advanced maritime surveillance systems."

"CNS also visited Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam during the visit. He was briefed on operational capabilities, ongoing initiatives of the US Pacific Fleet and units based at the joint facility. This visit highlighted the importance of enhancing interoperability and operational synergy between the maritime forces of India and the US, reinforcing our shared commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific," it added.

Currently, Admiral Tripathi is in the US for an official visit aimed at bolstering the enduring maritime partnership between the navies of India and the US, which is a cornerstone of their Defence Partnership.

On Saturday, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi engaged in a series of high-level discussions with top military officials in the US, aimed at enhancing maritime collaboration between the two nations.

He met with Admiral Samuel J Paparo, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral Stephen T Koehler, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, and Lieutenant General James F Glynn, Commander of the US Marine Forces Pacific.

"These interactions reaffirmed the lasting partnership between the Indian Navy and the US Navy, as well as the increasing synergy with US Marine and joint forces—rooted in mutual trust, shared values, and a commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific," stated the Indian Navy's spokesperson on X on Saturday.

Both parties reviewed essential aspects of India-US defence cooperation, concentrating on enhancing maritime security, boosting interoperability, and expanding operational engagements throughout the Indo-Pacific.

The discussions addressed priority areas of mutual maritime interest, such as improved information sharing and maritime domain awareness, building upon mechanisms like Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) and connections with the Information Fusion Centre for the Indian Ocean Region.

Moreover, the two sides explored methods to protect critical sea lines of communication and undersea infrastructure while improving coordinated responses for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, counter-piracy efforts, and addressing non-traditional security challenges.

They also discussed strategies for conducting more complex and regular bilateral and multilateral exercises, such as MALABAR, PASSEX, and those within the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and MILAN framework, to enhance joint warfare capabilities, logistics, and sustainment.

Both navies examined collaborative opportunities in emerging areas such as unmanned systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), as well as cyber and space-enabled maritime operations, to strengthen readiness and resilience at sea.
