Kuala Lumpur, Oct 3 (NationPress) The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri has docked at Kemaman Port in Malaysia as part of its routine operational deployment in the region. The Royal Malaysian Navy extended a warm reception to INS Sahyadri upon its arrival.
The Indian High Commission in Malaysia noted that this marks the third visit of INS Sahyadri to Malaysia. Previously, the ship visited Port Klang for a goodwill mission in 2016 and participated in Exercise Samudra Laksamana at Kota Kinabalu in 2019.
According to a post by the Indian High Commission in Malaysia, "INS Sahyadri arrived at Kemaman Port on October 2 as part of its regular operational duties and was welcomed warmly by the Royal Malaysian Navy. To foster better bilateral relations, the Royal Malaysian Navy and INS Sahyadri participated in cross visits and exchanges of subject matter experts."
The Commanding Officer along with other officers also met with First Admiral Abd Halim bin Kamarudin, the Deputy Commander of Naval Region 1 of the Malaysian Navy.
Earlier in July, the Indian Navy's indigenous Survey Vessel Large (SVL), INS Sandhayak, made its first port visit to Port Klang in Malaysia, strengthening hydrographic cooperation. A statement from the Ministry of Defence highlighted that this visit showcases India's growing role in regional hydrographic capacity building under the Indian Naval Hydrographic Department (INHD) and the National Hydrographic Office framework.
In May, India prominently participated in the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025), where Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth met with Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim at the grand opening ceremony of the event. The ceremony attracted global leaders in defence and aerospace.
