Tel Aviv, June 12 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the remains of two hostages have been retrieved from Gaza through a collaborative operation involving the Israeli military and the internal intelligence agency, Shin Bet.
In a statement released on Thursday, Netanyahu confirmed that one of the identified victims was Yair Yaakov, while the identity of the other individual remains undisclosed.
"During a coordinated operation by the IDF and Shin Bet in the Gaza Strip, we have managed to recover the bodies of two of our abducted individuals - the late Yair Yaakov, along with another whose name is yet to be revealed (his family has been notified)," he stated in a post on X.
The Israeli military reported that Yaakov, aged 59, was taken and killed by the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad amidst the attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
