Beirut, April 28 (NationPress) Israeli forces executed an airstrike on a structure located in the Hadath region of Beirut's southern suburbs. The significant strike targeted facilities where Hezbollah was allegedly storing precision missiles, as stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz in a joint announcement on Sunday.

According to the Israeli officials, these missiles represented a major threat to Israel's safety, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

The Lebanese National News Agency disclosed that Israeli aircraft released three missiles, obliterating a hangar and damaging surrounding structures and vehicles. So far, there have been no reported casualties from this assault.

Netanyahu and Katz asserted in their statement that Israel will not accept any enhancement of Hezbollah's military capabilities or threats emanating from any part of Lebanon. They also placed responsibility on the Lebanese government to avert such threats, claiming it bears direct responsibility for Hezbollah's armament.

Prior to the attack, Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a prompt evacuation advisory through social media for individuals in Beirut's southern suburbs, especially in Hadath.

"To ensure your safety and that of your families, you are advised to evacuate these buildings immediately and move at least 300 meters away, as shown on the map," Adraee stated.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun denounced the airstrike, asserting that "the United States and France, as guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, must take their responsibilities seriously and compel Israel to halt its strikes immediately."

He cautioned that Israel's ongoing destabilization efforts would heighten tensions and endanger regional security and stability, emphasizing that the recurring Israeli assaults on Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity are unacceptable under any circumstances.

Even with a ceasefire that began on November 27, 2024, intended to conclude 14 months of cross-border conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli airstrikes have persisted in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

As per Lebanon's state-run National News Agency, Israeli bombings and shootings have resulted in 149 fatalities in Lebanon since the truce, with the United Nations reporting on April 15 that 71 of the deceased were civilians.
