Israeli Prime Minister Released from Hospital Following Prostate Surgery

Jerusalem, Jan 3 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been released from the hospital, as stated by his office, less than a week after he underwent prostate removal surgery.

Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, where the procedure was performed, also confirmed Netanyahu's discharge in a statement. His medical team reported that his condition was stable, and he is recovering well from the surgery.

The doctors further indicated, "A recovery period still lies ahead for him," emphasizing that "post-surgical medical monitoring will continue as per usual protocols."

Netanyahu, aged 75, had the operation on Sunday but briefly left the hospital on Tuesday to vote in parliament on a significant government tax bill that was in jeopardy, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The Prime Minister has undergone several medical procedures in recent years. Earlier this year, he had hernia surgery in March under general anesthesia, during which Yariv Levin, Israel's Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, temporarily took over the Prime Minister's responsibilities.

In July 2023, Netanyahu was hospitalized for the implantation of a pacemaker after experiencing arrhythmia, just a week following an incident of dehydration.

This situation sparked considerable speculation within Israel regarding the Prime Minister's health and whether critical details had been withheld from the public.

A medical report released in January stated that Netanyahu was in a "completely normal state of health," confirming that his pacemaker was functioning properly and that there were no indications of heart arrhythmia or other concerning conditions.

Despite the requirement for Prime Ministers to publish an annual health report, Netanyahu did not issue such a report between 2016 and late 2023.

Legally, he could not be compelled to disclose his health information, as these protocols, established by the PMO, were not codified into law.
