Tokyo/New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Takehiro Funakoshi, Japan's Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, engaged in talks with Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary, and Pramod Kumar Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, focusing on the vast array of the India-Japan bilateral relationship, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated visit to Japan later this year.
During the Foreign Secretary-Vice Minister Dialogue in New Delhi, Misri and Funakoshi emphasized the escalating significance of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership aimed at fostering peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
“At the Japan-India Vice-Ministerial Dialogue, both Secretaries affirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties in diverse sectors such as security, economy, and community engagement, while also promoting cooperation within the Japan-US-Australia-India framework to achieve a Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” reported a statement from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday evening.
In addition to discussions on bilateral relations, the Secretaries shared insights on prevailing regional situations and agreed to maintain close collaboration. In their dialogue with Mishra, they further delved into topics related to bilateral relations.
Misri and Funakoshi exchanged perspectives on political alliances, defense and security, economic security, trade and investment, infrastructure collaboration, technology, and community interactions. They also addressed significant global and regional challenges.
“The dialogue was crucial in evaluating progress across various dimensions of our partnership, identifying new collaboration opportunities, and reinforcing the ties of friendship and cooperation between India and Japan,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
