New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) The spotlight is back on India’s inaugural bullet train initiative after Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the nation is set to launch its first high-speed rail service on August 15, 2027.

This announcement prompted responses from numerous political figures on Friday, who hailed the project as a significant developmental achievement and a source of national pride.

During a media briefing in New Delhi on Thursday, Minister Vaishnaw explained that the bullet train project is currently underway along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. He stated that the initial operational segment is anticipated to be from Surat to Bilimora, with the subsequent section from Vapi to Surat. The corridor stretches approximately 508 kilometres and is being developed in collaboration with Japan, utilizing cutting-edge high-speed rail technology.

In response to this development, JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad emphasized that the bullet train project should transcend political divisions. “This might become a talking point for the Opposition, yet we could pose the same question regarding missions to Mars or the Moon. The daily lives of ordinary citizens matter equally, and many will benefit from using the bullet train,” he remarked.

Prasad further stated that such projects should be acknowledged as part of the comprehensive development efforts by the government. “Therefore, this should be viewed beyond political disputes and recognized as part of the progress our government is initiating. This is undoubtedly a significant milestone for our country, marking the successful decision to introduce the bullet train in India,” he articulated.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC also expressed her support for the announcement, calling it a proud moment for the nation. She commented on the Railways Minister’s declaration, saying, “It is a source of pride that the Indian government, under Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, has confirmed that the nation’s first bullet train will be operational from August 15.”

She underscored the importance of the project, noting that the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor has been developed in partnership with Japan, employing the finest available technology. “It is projected to significantly benefit commuters and represents a critical advancement towards a developed India,” she concluded.

The bullet train initiative is viewed as a transformative effort aimed at modernizing India’s railway infrastructure, minimizing travel times, and stimulating economic growth along the corridor. With the government establishing a clear timeline, the project is destined to symbolize India’s commitment to high-speed, world-class transportation infrastructure.
