Male, July 29 (NationPress) The Maldives' Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Abdullah Khaleel engaged in a significant dialogue with the visiting President of Sri Lanka, Anura Dissanayake, centered on enhancing bilateral relations and uncovering new collaboration opportunities.

Khaleel took to X to express his gratitude for the meeting, highlighting its constructive nature.

“We had a fruitful dialogue on the enduring and evolving partnership between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. I expressed sincere thanks for Sri Lanka’s ongoing support and goodwill towards the Maldives,” he stated.

The Maldivian minister pointed out that the discussions delved into fresh avenues for collaboration, especially in enhancing consular services and fostering people-to-people interactions.

“We explored new paths for collaboration, notably in strengthening community ties and delivering effective consular services to our citizens,” he continued.

This visit highlights the close-knit and historic relationship between the two Indian Ocean island nations, which have traditionally cooperated in sectors such as tourism, trade, education, and regional collaboration.

Dissanayake commended President Muizzu for the successful execution of the ‘Maldives Clean Environment’ Project aimed at solid waste management while acknowledging the crucial role of collaborative efforts in tackling climate change and global warming.
