Mbabane, July 18 (NationPress) - During his official visit to the landlocked African nation, Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita met with Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini on Friday. The two leaders engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and identifying new avenues for cooperation across various sectors.
Margherita shared on X, “I had a productive meeting with Russell Mmiso Dlamini, the Prime Minister of Eswatini, where we explored ways to fortify our bilateral relations and uncover new collaboration opportunities in diverse fields.”
In addition, MoS Margherita engaged with the Economic Development Minister of Eswatini, Tambo Gina, to review existing cooperation and work towards strengthening bilateral relations further.
Prior to this, he paid a courtesy visit to the King of Eswatini, Mswati III, at Lozitha Palace, discussing the potential for deeper cooperation between their nations across a broad array of sectors.
“Honoured to meet His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini. Our discussions were comprehensive, focusing on enhancing bilateral collaboration across various sectors,” Margherita noted on X.
Upon his arrival in Mbabane on Thursday, the MoS was warmly welcomed by the Foreign Minister of Eswatini, Pholile Shakantu, as he commenced his multi-nation official visit to Africa.
This visit aims to foster meaningful discussions and improve bilateral relations between India and Eswatini, concentrating on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, capacity building, development partnerships, and cultural exchanges.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that MoS Margherita will also connect with the Indian diaspora and participate in events showcasing India’s development partnership initiatives in Eswatini. This visit is anticipated to further solidify the long-standing friendly relations between India and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Moreover, this multi-nation visit forms part of India’s broader diplomatic engagement with African nations, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation, exploring fresh partnership opportunities, and representing India at the upcoming G20 Development Ministerial Meetings (DMM) in South Africa.
Following Eswatini, the visit will continue to the Kingdom of Lesotho and then to South Africa from July 23 to 25.
