Brussels, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Sibi George, participated in the inaugural session of the 4th European Union (EU) Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum held in Brussels.
During this significant gathering, he engaged in dialogues with global leaders, including Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, alongside the Foreign Ministers from Cyprus, Maldives, Somalia, and Tuvalu.
“Secretary (West) Sibi George took part in the inaugural assembly of the 4th EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels today, exchanging views with EU HRVP Kaja Kallas, and the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Maldives, Somalia, and Tuvalu,” the MEA shared on X this Friday.
The EU is hosting this fourth Ministerial Forum from November 20-21 in Brussels, aimed at uniting the EU, its member states, and partners from the East coast of Africa to the Pacific islands.
At the forum, discussions will revolve around creating a resilient, prosperous, and secure future, aligning with the rules-based international order, promoting free trade, and upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Since the initiation of the EU Indo-Pacific Strategy in 2021, these Ministerial Forums have served as a vital platform to enhance ties, strengthen partnerships, and foster collaboration between the EU and Indo-Pacific nations.
Sibi George also had a meeting with Belen Martinez Carbonell, the Secretary-General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) at the EU headquarters in Brussels.
During their discussion, they reviewed the strong momentum of the India-EU partnership and assessed the progress on the Joint India-EU Comprehensive Strategic Agenda ahead of the upcoming India-EU Summit.
