Rio de Janeiro, July 5 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his five-nation journey, transitioning from Argentina to Brazil, Padma Shri laureate and spiritual leader Yogi Acharya Jonas Masetti shared his enthusiasm regarding their forthcoming meeting.
“In the upcoming days, I will meet Prime Minister Modi, and we plan to host a reception for him, likely discussing how to enhance the visibility of Vedic studies for the youth. We aim to demonstrate how the Vedic tradition can enrich the Western approach to life,” Acharya Masetti stated genuinely, just before their encounter.
He also conveyed his aspiration for the Prime Minister to visit his spiritual center in Brazil. “It would be a dream come true if the Prime Minister could visit our ashram and grant us his blessings,” he expressed in an interview with IANS.
Acharya Masetti, a prominent figure in promoting Indian spiritual practices, shared his perspective on the increasing acceptance of Indian culture in Brazil.
“It’s heartening to see Brazil embracing spirituality, especially that which originates from India. There are numerous cultural parallels, and the people here perceive it as a significant blessing, not merely as a religious endeavor, but as something profoundly spiritual,” he noted.
Reflecting on his journey, he remarked, “My work in Brazil commenced 12 years ago, and it has been a year since we inaugurated the Vishwa Vidya Gurukulam during the Prime Minister's visit last year.”
The ashram currently provides a long-term residential program: “We have eight students enrolled in a three-year course to become teachers. They have completed one year already.”
“Additionally, around 2,000 to 3,000 students engage in online studies and occasionally visit the ashram,” he mentioned.
“Students actively practice Yoga and Vedanta. They perform puja, learn and converse in Sanskrit,” he emphasized, showcasing the richness of Indian spiritual education being adopted in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Friday, received a warm welcome from the Indian community. His visit to Argentina marks the first bilateral trip by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 57 years. Following his engagements in Argentina, he will proceed to Brazil for the BRICS 2025 Summit, marking his fourth visit to the country.
