Netanyahu Expresses Gratitude to Trump for Strong Stance on Hostage Release

Jerusalem, Dec 4 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has conveyed his thanks to US President-elect Donald Trump following Trump's call for the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza on the day he assumes the presidency.
In a statement shared on X, Netanyahu on Tuesday expressed his appreciation, saying, "I want to thank President Trump for his strong statement yesterday regarding the urgent need for Hamas to release the hostages. This highlights Hamas's responsibility and adds further momentum to our ongoing efforts to secure the release of all hostages. Thank you, President Trump."
Trump's remarks came after the release of a video by Hamas featuring American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander pleading for his freedom.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump issued a warning, stating, "Everyone is talking about the hostages being held in a violently inhumane manner, against the will of the entire world, in the Middle East - but it’s all talk, and no action!"
He further warned that if the hostages were not released by January 20, 2025, when he takes office, the US would implement severe measures.
"Let this TRUTH serve as a reminder: if the hostages are not released before January 20, 2025, the date I proudly assume the role of President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those responsible for these atrocities against humanity," Trump asserted.
Trump emphasized that those accountable for the hostage situation would face significant repercussions, declaring, "Those responsible will be hit harder than anyone in the long and storied history of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!"
This warning, issued shortly after the hostage video surfaced, has intensified pressure on those detaining hostages in the Middle East.
Netanyahu's public support for Trump's statement underscores the increasing international determination to secure the release of captives.
Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich noted that Trump's statement clarified who is right and who is wrong in this situation.
"This is the way to bring back the hostages: by raising the stakes and costs for Hamas and its allies, and defeating them, rather than acquiescing to their unreasonable demands," Smotrich stated.
Families of the missing hostages also voiced their appreciation. "It is now clear to everyone: the time has come. We must bring them home NOW," the families' forum expressed.
