Pakistani security forces have allegedly killed two civilians and forcibly disappeared seven others, including a minor, across multiple districts of Balochistan, according to reports and statements from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) released on Friday, 22 May 2026. The incidents have drawn fresh condemnation from human rights groups, who are calling on international bodies to intervene.

Elderly Farmer Killed in Kech District

The BYC strongly condemned the killing of an elderly farmer, Sheerdil, in the Turbat region of Kech district on 21 May. According to the rights body, personnel of Pakistan's Frontier Corps (FC) allegedly opened fire near his land, striking him fatally. Citing local sources, the BYC stated that Sheerdil died on the spot.

'The situation in Balochistan continues to worsen, with killings and recovery of bodies being reported from different regions. Families are living through unbearable pain and loss, especially during days that should bring peace and togetherness, while ordinary people remain without protection or justice,' the BYC noted in its statement.

Body of Forcibly Disappeared Driver Recovered

In a separate incident, the body of 21-year-old driver Muhsin was recovered from the Paroom region in Panjgur district on 19 May — nearly 66 days after he was allegedly forcibly disappeared. According to the BYC, Muhsin was last seen on 16 March at the Jeerak crossing point in Paroom, where FC personnel allegedly detained him. The rights body claims he was killed during detention and his body subsequently dumped.

This is not an isolated case. Enforced disappearances followed by the recovery of bodies have become a recurring pattern in Balochistan, with rights groups documenting hundreds of such cases over the past decade.

Seven Civilians Forcibly Disappeared Across Districts

Local media outlet The Balochistan Post, citing local sources, reported that seven civilians were allegedly detained and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and intelligence personnel during separate operations across the province.

Among those reportedly disappeared:

Javed Baloch, 23, a driver, was allegedly taken into custody by Military Intelligence (MI) personnel at the Dhoor checkpoint in Gwadar district on the evening of 29 April 2026.

Khalil Karim, 20, a singer, was allegedly detained in the Chah Sar area of Turbat, Kech district, on 30 April before being subjected to enforced disappearance.

FC and MI personnel allegedly raided residential houses in the Panwan area of Jiwani, Gwadar district, on the night of 19 April, detaining three individuals who were later reportedly disappeared. The victims were identified as 14-year-old Dilshad Dad, driver Ali Fazal, and 19-year-old fisherman Sohail Karim.

24-year-old labourer Abdul Haq Shehzad was reportedly taken into custody and forcibly disappeared by Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel. In another case, 30-year-old Majid, a resident of the Killi Haji Mohammad area in Chagai district, was allegedly detained by FC and CTD personnel before disappearing.

Rights Groups Demand International Accountability

The BYC has called on international human rights organisations and global bodies to urgently take notice of the deteriorating situation in Balochistan. It urged accountability for those responsible and called for justice, civilian protection, and respect for the dignity of affected families.

Pakistan's government has not issued a public response to these specific allegations. The Pakistani military has historically denied systematic abuses in Balochistan, attributing security operations to counter-insurgency efforts against armed groups operating in the region.

With incidents now being reported from Kech, Panjgur, Gwadar, and Chagai districts simultaneously, rights observers warn the situation risks further deterioration without independent oversight or accountability mechanisms.
