Los Angeles, Jan 11 (NationPress) Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) erupted across California, from Sacramento to Sonora, and from San Francisco to Los Angeles. These demonstrations, known as "ICE OUT For Good," were coordinated by a coalition of various organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the 50501 Movement, which previously organized large-scale protests in all 50 states nearly every month last year, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
In Pasadena, a city adjacent to Los Angeles, over 500 demonstrators gathered near city hall, chanting "No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist USA" while car horns blared in support.
A statement from the 50501 Movement revealed that at least 32 individuals lost their lives while in ICE custody in 2025.
The protests were ignited by two recent tragedies: a federal officer fatally shot Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three in Minneapolis, and another agent injured two people in Portland, Oregon earlier this week.
Activist Dias Alan expressed, "We're here to recognize that this country needs to turn itself around and reach out to the citizens of the San Gabriel foothill communities to join us in protesting. The specific reason is to mourn the passing of an innocent lady who sacrificed her life for the cause."
A protester named Jenny, an immigrant from Australia, remarked that she had seen numerous videos about the incident in Minneapolis.
She stated, "ICE is a threat to public safety. This is a threat to all of us immigrants."
"ICE needs to be removed from our streets. They are not adhering to the US Constitution. They are infringing upon the 14th Amendment and other amendments. We must ensure that the people in this country follow the Constitution," she asserted.
